Where Golfing Legends Are Made

The Redbird Ryder Cup is a one-day 36-hole golf event that started in the fall of 1995 when several former Illinois State Baseball players were looking for a way to enjoy competition outside the baseball field. The event was originally called the Golden Schu Classic and the winning captain walked away with a size 17 basketball shoe (courtesy of LD Murdock) spray painted gold and nailed to a 2x4. The traveling trophy attended several weddings and an occasional trip to the Pub II. In 2001, the trophy made an appearance at Schuster's wedding, but it has not been seen since. The event has evolved from the early days and is now called the Redbird Ryder Cup in honor of Illinois State University and the Ryder Cup.

This event is open to anyone that has a connection or history with the Illinois State Baseball Team.  Friends, family, coaches, etc. are welcome to join us.
